Just like Yoko Ono and John Lennon did many years ago… For most people getting married and planning a wedding in Gibraltar is reasonably simple.
Even though they come from very different places, like Canada or Egypt, you don’t organise a trip to one of the last colonies of the Western world daily.
This is what happened in this couple’s case. After facing a pandemic, they were surer than ever that they wanted to say I DO for the rest of their days. So they looked into where it would be easiest to get married and plan a wedding in Europe, and just like in a romantic movie, they travelled to the peninsula to write their names in the Civil Registry at the British colony. Yes, they come here for getting married and plan a wedding in Gibraltar, finally.
They wrote to me a few days before, while I was at another wedding. I loved their plan and we arranged a meeting at Hotel La Caleta, on the beachfront. A place close to the most meridional end of the colony called Europa Point. Where they finally exchanged their vows.
Let me introduce you to the newlyweds: Robert, who is Polish, and Aprille, who is French. They both live in Berlin, where they met and moved in together.
They had been planning it for a long time. They knew that they wanted to take the next step, say I do, all dressed up and celebrate it with family. But they had never been to Gibraltar. So, I helped them with the location, explained the best time to get great lighting and started the shoot.
And that’s what we did, until the sun dissapared.
